This painting is an offering to the temple of our minds.
In the winter of 2024 I was going deep in a meditation practice, sitting for up to 60 minutes every single day, sometimes paired with a low mushroom dose. I started to explore my mind in a way I hadn’t before, unlocking many doors and finding new pathways and journeys. Some of these doors I wished I hadn’t unlocked, but the only way out is through, so deeper and deeper into my consciousness I went. At one point I felt that I was face to face with my own mortality. I was witnessing myself from above, as if my mind had detached from my body, and I was observing my avatar go through the motions of life. It was utterly terrifying, and I spent days in this liminal, disassociated state. But learning how to accept this fate, and fully releasing control of my life, eventually brought me to a place of pure ecstasy. Pure release. Pure acceptance of the unknown.
After coming back to my body and feeling grounded and present again, I started experiencing the most intense visuals when I would sit. Shortly after, I went down to Costa Rica and attempted to capture some of those images, and here it finally is 🌿
